Chapter Thirteen

She woke up but didn’t move. What was she supposed to do now? Should she try to get out of bed without waking him? Would he hate her for last night?

“Do you regret last night?”

“No!” She shot straight up to look at him with a glare firmly in place.

“You were so quiet, and still; I thought you might.”

That deflated her. She dropped down on his chest, her hand lazily stroking him.

“I thought you might hate me for taking advantage of you.”

“Taking advantage is to do something you know the other person would not agree to. I was… I wanted you to touch me; you're my mate. It’s your right.” She was his mate, but he wanted her to touch him because she was Piper. The female in the picture that enchanted him from a piece of paper.

“Will you allow me to touch you again later?”

He nodded. “I want to touch you too.” Would she allow his scarred hands to roam her soft skin?

“I can’t wait.” Her voice was thick and sultry. He was beginning to think of it as her make love to me voice. It made his cock jerk.

“We should get ready to go to breakfast.”

“You’re right.” She got up and stood by the side of the bed.

His eyes swept her, taking in every naked inch of her skin.

She wanted to touch him, kiss him, but she walked to the bathroom.

Last night she had given him pleasure, but the look on his face told her he was still looking for the catch. He was waiting for her to become the monster that she was cursed to be. She didn’t blame him, the darkness was deep within her. It wouldn’t bother her if she knew she would win, but like with most fights; the winner was an uncertainty.

She showered fast, and then he did. When they were ready to leave, he took her hand and led her down the stairs.

“Look who showed up for breakfast.” Brandi teased.

Piper could feel Brandi’s eyes on her. Brandi gave her a slow perusal and then Thrice making sure they were both fine. Everyone did the same, but they didn’t make it a big deal.

“I thought I smelled french toast, mm my fav.”

“I made it, especially for you.” Brandi and Jabari were at the stove this morning.

She loved how everyone took turns cooking. It made it feel like they were one big happy family.

“You know I can cook.” Brandi turned to stare at her. “I can cook small things. I can cook what you taught me to cook.”

Brandi laughed at the exasperated look on her face. “I’m teaching Jabari to cook. You can join us.” Jabari stared at her. “Okay, I’m teaching him how to flip when I say flip and stir when I say stir.
